Homemade Dog Treats

This past weekend I decided to make some homemade dog treats for Hiro. I checked out a dog treat book from the local library and wrote down all the reciepes that weren't too hard to make. I decided to try out "Liver Bait Fudge" It was actually very easy to make. I ran out of eggs so I wasn't able to add it to this batch. Here is the receipe if you want to make it for your pooch. I'll try to show a video of Hiro eating one. =) Enjoy!

You don't want to give too much liver to puppies because they can be too rich for them. So I only give him about 1 a day.

Liver Bait Fudge

Makes 96
Prep Time: 15 min

Cooking Time: 30-35 min
13 oz chickens’ or lamb liver
½ pint (300 ml) cold water
13 oz (400 g) wheat and gluten free flour
½ teaspoon chopped garlic
4 turkey bacon slices, grilled and chopped
1 egg
2 ½ fl oz olive oil

1. Liquidize the liver and measured water in a food processor or blender. Transfer to a large bowl, add the flour, garlic, turkey bacon, egg and olive oil, and mix with a spoon until it forms a smooth paste.
2. Pour the ingredients into a 7x11 in shallow baking tin lined with greased greaseproof paper. Cook in preheated oven, 350oF for 30-35 min. Prick with a fork halfway through cooking to release the air. Check it is cooked through by inserting a knife. If the knife comes out clean, it is ready. Otherwise, return to the oven for 2-3 more min. Transfer to a wire rack to cool.
3. Cut into 1 in cubes using a sharp knife. Place the liver bait cubes into small re-sealable freezer bags and freeze until required. Defrost a bag in the refrigerator before your next raining session.
